Pressed Flowers Cardigan

  • Skill Level

    Advanced Beginner to Intermediate

Class Description: An easy to wear relaxed v-neck cardigan with an allover mosaic pattern that resembles scattered pressed fl owers across the fabric. The striking colorwork pattern is created while only working one color each row. A color changing yarn as the contrast can add do much of the work to create additional interest. In this pattern, the body is worked from the bottom in one piece to the underarm. Fronts and back are divided and worked separately to the shoulders. Shoulders are bound off and sewn but you could opt to work short rows and join with a three needle bind off if you prefer. The sleeves are picked up and worked down in the round.

What You’ll Learn: How to choose the right size for your body, adjusting for gauge differences, slip stitch (mosaic) colorwork worked flat, reading slip stitch pattern from a chart, creating button bands and button holes, optional modification for a double knit button band, grafting and three needle bind off

Skill Requirements: Comfortable knitting and purling flat, basic understanding of sweater construction

Simple Sweater

  • Class Description Are you ready for sweater knitting? This class will take you step-by-step from planning to completion of a top down sweater with a yoke construction - a very functional and basic design with clean lines. It’s perfect for a first sweater project, and a staple in anyone’s wardrobe. We will use the well-designed and easy to follow “Simple Sweater” pattern by Tin Can Knits as a guide for this class. This pattern offers a range of sizes from newborn to adult sizes.

    Skill Requirements

This is an advanced beginner class. Students should be comfortable with knitting and purling in the round.

Strange Brew - Stranded Colorwork Sweater Design Class

  • Are your sites set on the milestone of a stranded colorwork sweater in your knitting journey? This class will take you step-by-step from planning to completion of your first stranded colorwork sweater. We will use the brilliant “Strange Brew” book by Tin Can Knits as a guide for this class. They have done the design work and (lots of) math to create easy-to-follow patterns and templates. We get to add our imagination! This tends to be a flexible class with tons of inspiration, fun, and camaraderie along the way. The focus of this class will be knitting a top down, seamless colorwork sweater in the size of your choice (newborn to adult). You can choose one of the patterns already in the book, or create your own motifs.

Skill Requirements This is an intermediate class. Students should be comfortable with knitting and purling in the round, basic increases. Basic experience with stranded colorwork knitting is recommended. Some working knowledge about sweater construction will be helpful. There will be a chance to briefly review stranded colorwork techniques (eg. managing colors, tension, color dominance) in the first class, and practice in your swatch.

Brand new to stranded colorwork? The “Beginning Stranded Colorwork” class is a great way to develop your technique without the commitment of a full garment.

Ladderback Jacquard

  • Class Description: Long floats in stranded colorwork can be a knitter’s nemesis! The Ladderback Jacquard (LBJ) technique is often a game changer to manage long floats invisibly and with even tension. In this class, you will learn how to incorporate the LBJ technique into any stranded colorwork project. We will cover where and how to create a LBJ stitch when floats get long, and then how to remove this stitch when it’s no longer needed. Voila – your colorwork may have never looked so tidy!

We will create the charming “I’ll Pack A” Cowl for a great opportunity to practice all aspects of this technique.

Skill Requirements: Solid comfort with stranded colorwork in the round, and reading colorwork charts.

Intro to Sock Knitting

In this class, we will step into the world of hand knitted socks. We will use the “magic loop” technique to create a top-down ribbed sock with a heel flap and gusset construction that ends with grafting or a three needle bind off to close the toe. DK weight yarn will magnify our work, and allow us to move efficiently through learning techniques for socks. These are squishy, cozy socks to wear around the house or in your boots.
